조각, 사진, 회화, 비디오 혹은 설치미술 등 다양한 분야에서 활동하는 자비에 베이앙은 묘사를 표현방식에 있어서 가장 중요하게 생각한다. 피사체를 식별하는데 최소한으로 필요한 것에 대한 고민을 작업에 옮기며 모델의 형식적인 아름다움을 포기하지 않으면서도 그것이 가지고 있는 가장 단순한 의미로 축소시킨다.
